A Day at Jenkins Living Center

Be it the nursing department, housekeeping, activities, dietary or maintenance, the Jenkins Living Center staff strives to provide the best care for your loved one. Caring, dedicated employees are found in every department.

  • Nursing:Nursing:
Shawn Gilman, RN is the Director of Nursing and supervises over 125 nursing staff consisting of CNAs, LPNs, RNs, Med Aides, and Administrative Personnel.
The nursing department also works with the primary physicians of each resident and is fortunate enough to have Physician Assistants make daily visits, eliminating the need for residents to leave the convenience of their "home."

  • Therapy:herapy Department
The comprehensive Therapy Team is led by Andrea Vosberg, Speech/Language Pathologist. Under Andrea's authority, Jenkins has a full-time Physical Therapist, two Physical Therapist Assistants, a full-time Occupational Therapist/Low Vision Rehabilitation Specialist, and an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Therapies can be both in-patient and out-patient. There is also a 55 and older exercise program, the J-Club, for a very low fee.

  • Activities:
The Activity Department plans activities to meet the interests and needs of the residents. Many of our activities are based on things that are familiar to the residents and things they have enjoyed in the past. There is a monthly activity plan and family and residents are encouraged to be aware of upcoming activities and take part.

  • Dietary:
Jenkins Living Center employs a Registered Dietitian. Therapeutic diets are prepared according to physician's prescribed orders. Meals are served in the dining room and a morning, afternoon and evening nutrition cart is brought to the floors.

  • Administration:
The Administration Department of Jenkins Living Center is committed to ensuring that residents in the facility receive the best quality health care products and services available during their stay. Although residents and family members are encouraged to address concerns directly with staff, the Administrator of this facility, Loren Diekman, and Medical Director Dr. Aaron Shives, always welcome your comments and suggestions concerning resident care.

  • Religious Life
Jenkins Living Center is concerned for the whole person and seeks to care for each resident's physical, mental, and spiritual welfare. For this purpose a chaplain, Rev. Tsukamoto, is employed to aide residents and staff. His mission is to assist, and not to replace, the priest or pastor of the resident. Residents and their families are encouraged to contact him for any assistance.

  • Maintenance:
The Jenkins Corporation consists of 161 bed licensed skilled nursing facility, Cedar View Assisted Living, 200 Maple Place and Town View Apartments. The Jenkins highly-skilled maintenance team supervised by Director of Maintenance, Wayne Deelstra, is responsibile for maintainng all of these facilities on a daily basis.
